which universities that aren't liberal arts colleges are known for really good professors, the ones that care, not just the ones that publish. Thanks.

bump......

I believe research and publishing by Prof are things uni's and lac's look at to grant prof's tenure.

Maybe these questions are more relevant. Are these Prof's good teachers? Do these Prof's teach? Are these Prof's acessible? Do they care about UG's?

I'm assuming you mean professors who are good in the classroom, rather than "star" professors who have little interaction with undergrads. Some of the universities with good, caring professors are:

URochester, Lehigh, Brandeis, Wake Forest, Johns Hopkins, Dartmouth, Princeton, UChicago, Tufts, Yeshiva, Yale..., also keep in mind that state universities with Honors programs and colleges-within-colleges also tend to have some caring professors...

If "star" professors are your thing, I'd say:

UChicago, Yale, Harvard, UWisconsin, UCalifornia-Berkeley, Northwestern, Columbia, UPennsylvania, Duke, MIT, CIT, Stanford, WashU, UWashington, UMichigan, Indiana, UNC, UVA, Georgetown, Emory, USC, etc...

Every university has its mix of prof's. Anywhere you go, you'll find some good ones, and some not-so-good ones. Also depending on where you are, some of the "star" profs may interact with undergrads- I know they do here at Caltech.

IsleBoy, I don't know wherre you're getting your information, but I think you're mistaken about Emory University, where most classes are taught by professors who are not only accessible but known to be very engaging with undergraduate students. I think many Emory students will attest to this.
