<p>I am an international student, and I have asked my teachers for letters of recommendation. The problem is that in my country teachers are concerned mostly with the academic part when it comes to writing recommendations, and want to write about how great I am during classes. In fact, they very much wanted me to send them a resume so that they could write something about my extracurricular activities. As far as I know, this differs from the writing style in the US, so I think my recommendations might not be that useful. My question is what makes a great letter of recommendation, and what should it include? Are there examples of strong recommendations on the Internet?</p>
<p>That sounds like they basically have the right idea to me. Academics are the most important, and they even want to mention your EC’s which is nice. US colleges aren’t going to expect international applicants to have teachers write like US ones, I don’t think. Here are some tips from a top college:
