Great restaurants near Brown

Could you name some?

Hemenway's (seafood), Al Forno (Italian, renowned pizza), Julian's (Gourmet/fusion bistro food, great for breakfast), Apsara (Pan-Asian), Garden Grill Cafe (Healthy stuff)

Just to name a few

just go to thayer street or the mall and you will find somewhere good to eat ( hemengways is very good! - its down the hill by RISD)

Antonio's Pizza! Mmm so amazing, and so close (Thayer)

I heard there was a creperie (Spelling??) with actual crepes, and also a place that serves gellato, all on Thayer? Is this true, for some fun and quick little snacks at Brown?

yeah there is a creperie.. one of the times i went to visit i ate there and took the card. its right off thayer on fones alley.

The creperie is yummy! Although when I was in Providence this summer, they were held up at knife-point. Kinda scary.

I don't know about gelato, but they have a Cold Stone Creamery and a bunch of health food places (and Starbucks and Au Bon Pain, of course)

The creperie is quite yummy! Definitely check it out.

And, yes, there's a place with nice gelatto (or however you spell it) right on Thayer. It's called RobaDolce, and it's pretty cute.

East Side Pockets is pretty ill if you like Greek food.

Held up at knife-point, is this common!??! AHH i'm nervous for next year eek.

Providence is a city. All cities are dangerous to some point.

Just because Providence is a city doesn't mean that Thayer street, an integral thruway of the Brown campus, has to necessarily be a dangerous hot-bed. Is Providence, or Thayer for that matter, generally high-crime?

Antonios for pizza, Gordito for mexican, creperie is pretty amazing too..

Paragon isnt bad, but its expensive..

As a resident of the area, I can tell you most emphatically that the area near Brown is very safe. That being said, common sense is always in order (e.g., don't walk alone at night in uncrowded places) and occasional frightening events do occur.

Restaurant-wise, if you're looking for the kind of restaurant that goes beyond Thayer Street casual fare, some places to consider are Gracie's (pricy, but well-worth the money for a special occasion), almost anything on Federal Hill, Pizzico, and Blaze (the latter two are on Hope St.).

Don't forget rue de L'Espoir, on Hope street...

more importantly, what are the best CHEAP restaurants near Brown?

LOL cheap restaurants

any indian restaurants?

Kabob and Curry is a really yummy Indian restaurant. They're not super expensive, but they're have lunch specials, which is really nice!

Byblos and East Side Pockets are both cheap and delicious if you like Middle Eastern food.

Antonio's and Nice Slice are great places to grab pizza.

The Creperie is a fun place to get sweet or savory crepes any time of day.

sweet i hear the desi crowd is pretty big at brown
