And not so great things..

I want to know more about this school because I keep telling everyone this is where I want to be, but I just want to make sure :)

Everything! Location is urban, but still has a campus. Accessable to suburbs and shopping, with tons of museums and green-ery near by! Cutting edge research and construction in the area and on campus, so Case is always developing in nearly every field!

Plenty of people like to rag on Case, but they tend to be the 1% dissatisfied with their experience that shout the loudest… don’t listen to them. Case is an absolutely incredible school!

As a parent of a future Case student, I’ll call your attention to what impressed me: the carefully thought-out undergraduate curriculum & SAGES seminars, single application to all undergrad schools of the U, cross registration in nearby Art & Music conservatories, student diversity, supportive learning programs & resources, emphasis on creativity, & ongoing investment in liberal arts (something many people don’t know about.) It strikes me as extremely challenging, offering broad opportunities AND supportive - an uncommon combination.

My son is also a future Case student, attending in the fall. I agree with everything that has been said. I also want to point out that I have had numerous dealings with the Financial Aid office over the last few months and they have been extremely supportive and helpful. I couldn’t ask for anything more. The registration process for classes was easy for my son to follow and not confusing at all. I am looking forward to the next four years and I am very excited for him to be attending Case.

My daughter will be a junior in the fall. She went to Cwru reluctantly, after being accepted to her dream school but not receiving enought aid. She expected to transfer after her first year but she fell in love with the school.

Great things… Strong academics and excellent research opportunities. She has had a paying research job since her second semester. She is in engineering, but has taken classes in the liberal arts… History and romantic languages… And has been very happy with the professors.

Location… After her initial reluctance, my daughter loves Cleveland. Lots of music and art, you might have to try a little harder than in a bigger city to find it.

Social scene… She has wonderful friends and is busy and happy on the weekends. She does say that there is a contingent of students who are all work and stress and no play, but she has a group of friends who are all top students and also manage to have fun.

Negatives… The work load seems higher than other schools, but most of my daughters friends are not in engineering at other schools so I am not sure if it is a fair comparison.

On the east coast, not everyone has heard of the school, but the people who matter (grad schools and hiring managers) respect it.

Sages… My daughter was not impressed, but she did choose courses to fit her schedule rather than her interests. She enjoys history and writing and thought that the academic level of the classes was a little low, but she did not complain too much.

What is your guys’ take on the merit aid? Is it really generous? I want to go here but money is my main issue. My parents can’t really afford to pay for college at all so I’m working on my own to pay for as much as I can.

Case is really great about aid. I received a major-based scholarship, but when I switched majors, I went to financial aid and explained that I really couldn’t afford tostay at Case if I didn’t have the scholarship. They were incredible and gave me a grant in the amount I had had before. You can always make an appointment with financial aid to talk to them, that would be the best thing definitely!!
