<p>Impressive, just goes to show you that it doesn’t matter what institution you go to, it is up to the individual.</p>
<p>No doubt, Sergio has the character to become a great doctor. That’s why all the top schools chose him despite whatever undergrad he came from. From my viewpoint, he drew attention not from any academic accomplishments but from his contributions as a field medic while in Iraq. Clearly medical school would love to accept these people because there are so few out there.</p>
<p>he went to UCR, not ‘spongebob squarepants university’. </p>
<p>in other words, this is not some miraculous feat.</p>
<p>I would say it is. Especially with what he went through. And getting into Harvard Med is a miraculous feat in itself.</p>
<p>I have read this article before! this article really motivates me to work hard at UCR.</p>
