will a prestigious undergraduate school(NYU stern) neutralize a low GPA. Stern grades on a bell curve

How bad is the GPA? GMAT could definitely help neutralize it, and admissions committee could give you more leeway (sp?) since you went to a difficult university.

Also what was the degree in? Some schools add weight to more difficult majors (i.e. engineering) vs. easier ones (i.e. anything but engineering);)

it is hypothetical question
how hard is the GMAT i got 1480m/v on the SATs how does that translate to GMAT (since they are somewhat similiar)
What is the main critereas to get into a MBA program
is it hard cause the MBA acceptance rates are very high - cornell around 36%(while the ugrad is like 25%)

Dividing your SAT by 2 is a rough approximation of how your GMAT score may turn out. Cornell MBA may be 36%, but top schools like Stanford, Harvard, Wharton, Kellogg, Tuck, MIT, Columbia are all in the 10-20% acceptance rate range. Plus, there is no common app and people don’t apply to nearly as many b-schools, so acceptance rates are not so distorted downward the way they are for top UGs.

Work experience and essays are the most important criteria for admission; GMAT and GPA are secondary in comparison.
