I know I'm only a freshman and it's too early to start stressing about colleges and the future but I want to get a head start with the whole college admissions process. I really really want to get into MIT. I have always wanted to go there and study Architecture/ Mathematic courses. What are the things I should be doing right now to prepare myself when the time comes to start applying? How can I prove that I'm a strong candidate?

I know academics/grades are important. Also extracurriculars.
I'm in MESA Club (Math, Engineering, Science Achievement) and I'm thinking of also joining the Chemistry Club.
Should I fill my EC's with all Math/Science-based activities?

I’m aiming at doing something creative-based to complement my serious courseload in math and science and my course-load for my university for Concurrent Enrollment. You should definitely do something EC with art. Chemistry might not do you half the justice art will do you for architecture.

Also, I have to stress the importance of community service. Math tutoring might be good for you, if you can find such an opportunity. CSs are very hard for math/science focuses, but I got a comfortable CS working with senior citizens and their computers [Basically, an unofficial IT department for retirement homes]

You just made the best decision of your life. MIT is not easy to get in.

Call MIT and explain to them your situation.

Be like

" hi, my name is ( fulanito de tal ) and this is my situation. This is my freshman year in HS and MIT is my college dream since I was in x-grade, I really want to get in there and I would like to know all of steps I have to make in order to be one of the strongest candidate. Or send then an email.

Take as many AP classes as you can.

Try to get an 4.0 GPA by the end you you junior year.

Take the SAT as many time as You ca.

Don’t forget about community service and Summer programs.

Do what above poster said, but also apply to MITES your junior year. It helps you get an MIT experience and helps you app to MIT. I did it this year and it was amazing.
