harry potter

i'v enever seen grey's anatomy!

Friends
MAS*H
Seinfield
Star Trek (all of them except for Voyager)
X-Files

Yeah, I am old!

the simpsons. consistently hilarious for over a decade.

The West Wing (seasons 1-4)- if you like good drama you owe it to yourself to pick up season two on DVD to see some of the finest dialouge work ever on TV.

The Simpsons (seasons 1-12)- do I even have to explain? The new episodes on FOX do not do justice to the stellar characters and solid stories of the earlier seasons that could kick Family Guy's behind all around town any day of the week.

Family guy is horrible. It attempts to parody The Simpsons, but does a TERRIBLE job of it. The Simpsons is a classic, no show will ever beat it.

Nip/Tuck is my all-time fave. Only show I ALWAYS try to catch. My second fave would have to be Entourage, but ehh.. it's no Nip/Tuck.

The Simpsons. Seinfeld. Chappelle's Show. Sportscenter.

seth, name me one instance where family guy tries to parody the simpsons

One doesn't have to look far to see the similarities. For example, the quintessetial American family: A fat lazy father, two kids, a girl with some common sense and a dumb boy. I guess I can give them credit for the addition of an overly sarcastic talking baby, even though it lowers the quality of the cartoon significantly because of the implausibility if such a phenomenon. All in all, it's lame.

haha this part in family guy made me laugh so much: the family were grocery shopping and this hand reached out to the teen fat boy and he was in that cartoonish place with the singers with that song - that 80s video clip lookalike thing - and the boy was like all so confused and he pushed his way out of the cartoon place and then he fell out of this shelf and his mom was like, "where have you been?" and the boy said "i dont know!" in a really confused voice.
Yeah I don't know if that makes sense.. But yeah.. it made me laugh so much on the floor with tears rolling down my face.

I dont like the talking baby. But i like the talking dog.

Superman!!!

Family Guy is hilarious. Lets just hope they keep the clever flashbacks, that is the funniest part of the show. "It reminds me of the time I forgot how to sit down." <chair breaks=""></chair>

I fell in love with a British series called Rose and Maloney when I was in Sweden over the summer. It's pretty obscure, though, so I haven't been able to find DVDs anywhere. :(

That's really the only series I've followed recently.

Well, the 2004 American League Championship Series was pretty good.

^ Glad I was not the only person who instantly thought of baseball...

And yes the 2004 ALCS was a classic!

yes seth, because the simpsons was the first and only show to feature a typical american family.

Personally I think that the Simpsons in its prime is better than Family Guy in its prime because the Simpsons tell a better story. Family Guy, while really fricken hilarious, relies almost entirely on those 10-30sec mini-jokes and/or Stewie as the main source of its humor. I mean I've watched many an epsiode where its one line of dialouge, the flashback, another line, flashback, ad nauseum. There really is no involving story to most of the episodes, theme etc. Whereas the Simpsons can give you a solid story arc and encapsulate the pop-culture and other such jokes within it. The Simpsons can do who-done-its, sappy stories, heartfelt relationships, etc. and still be funny, whereas the only real tone other than mean/cold/whacky in Family Guy either comes from Brian or the typical end-revalation where Peter relizes how he needs to treat _______ better. I'm not calling Familiy Guy a rip off (everything takes something from some other show- just watch the Simpsons episode where Itchy and Scratchy are cancelled), I'm just saying the Simpsons are better TV- better stories, more carefully crafted jokes (I know I went way to in depth with this).
