"yes seth, because the simpsons was the first and only show to feature a typical american family."

The creators of the Simpsons were the first to do it well enough for it to become a classic. Family Guy will never be a classic. Why? Because there's no moral or objective in any of the episodes. One watches it and the subsequent reaction is: umm, okay, that was funny, but what the hell was the point? The addition of a sexual pervert and contemporary pop culture thematics renders it more appealing to perversed teens, but for those who enjoy quality cartoons, the Simpsons is the one. Imagine politics in Family Guy, and imagine it in The Simpsons. From this, we can concede that Family Guy depends on naked fatsos, and kissing lesbians to perpetuate its appeal. Simple as that. Even American Dad is better than FAmily Guy, and it's by the same producer I believe.

How crazy did the previews for the next episode of Nip/Tuck look!?!?....i'm utterly confused...although i know Christian isn't the Cutter.....i'm thinkin it's Quintin

Charmed is the best!

Quintin would be way too convenient nahrafsfa, Ryan Murphy will be revealing the identity in episode 15

i used to love Charmed when i was in my early teens! me and my sis used to get all excited about 7.30 tuesdays.. I don't really watch it now.. maybe it's just me but it kinda seems boring now.

Yes I also agree that Family guy will never override the Simpsons. The Simpsons is a classic!

Seinfeld, easily.

As for Family Guy vs The Simpsons, sadly, The Simpsons is now awful, and Family Guy is king. But there was a time, long ago, when things were very different. Take a seat and I'll tell ye.

The Simpsons in its prime was a better show than Family Guy. Not that Family Guy isn't hilarious, it is, it's the funniest thing on TV, but The Simpsons just had a quality about it that made it classic. Not every episode had to be constant gags. And it was slightly more grounded in reality, there was actually a storyline, like Homer leading the company's baseball team with his magic bat. Family Guy mainly exaggerates every day things and most of the laughs come from the flashbacks ("Gee, this is even more scary than the time I...."). Sadly, this very quality of the Simpsons was its downfall. People never tire of random humor that comes out of nowhere and is completely bizzare and hilarious, but they do tire of storylines. The Simpsons doesn't have anything left in it. Family Guy will until pop culture fades away and it has nothing to make fun of.

But I think the voices in Family Guy are better than the voices in The Simpsons ever were. I mean, delivery, timing, it's all completely perfect, especially with Stewie (who is modeled after Rex Harrison in My Fair Lady).
