greatest weakness- the dreaded question

our college counselor wants us to fill out questionnaires, and our recs will probably be based on them so I want to make a good impression. One of the questions asks what my greatest weakness as a person is. What is a response that sounds honest, yet gives a sense of decency rather than flaw?

As long as it isn’t illegal (e.g. I have a tendency to steal), then you should be good as long you acknowledge that it’s a flaw and propose how you’ve been trying to fix it.

Ohh, we had to fill that out on a questionnaire for our counselors too. I forget what I put. Maybe procrastination?

You would probably be fine to say time management. Honestly what kid doesn’t have that problem. I’ve also said that I can be a control freak (which is sometimes true) and I don’t think that’s too horrible of a weakness.

Not procrastinating.

^ No, that’s too common lol. Anything regarding written examples for admissions needs to be personal and unique.

“I used to steal hubcaps off of cars. But then I saw the error of my ways. Now I work at a garage as a mechanic.”

You know. Something deep and revealing that shows you learned a lesson. Or something. Idk.

I was thinking along the lines of: I’m disorganized. Back in middle school I learned to just keep mental tabs on everything, and it worked just fine. Now, as my life becomes increasingly busy, I need to be more organized, and I’m working on developing better habits. How is that?

My handwriting looks like a dead chicken wrote it. That seems like a valid weakness.
