Greek Life for Transfers

I am transfering to unc as a junior this fall, I was wondering how rare it is to juniors to pledge frat's? Is it harder to pledgeas a junior than as a freshman? any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Juniors still pledge fraternities. I would definitely recommend going Greek if you transfer to any school, it makes the whole socially adapting thing much easier. But wait, aren’t you being recruited for Football? I do not know if you will have all that time for a fraternity and/ or to pledge, pledging is a very lengthy process.

jkrock, my son pledged a fraternity as a junior transfer. He felt that it was a good decision as he was able to meet many people at once and make some good friends as a newcomer to campus. It is just an easy way to immediately have a social group coming to the school “late”.

I would also say he probably had less trouble with the pledging than freshmen in his pledge class—he was older, more mature, had college experience with time management, etc. Though if you are going to play a varsity sport, I don’t see how you would have the time. In fact, are varsity athletes even “allowed” to go Greek?
