Greek Life for Transfers

I am transfering to unc as a junior this fall, I was wondering how rare it is to juniors to pledge frat's? Is it harder to pledgeas a junior than as a freshman? any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Juniors still pledge fraternities. I would definitely recommend going Greek if you transfer to any school, it makes the whole socially adapting thing much easier. But wait, aren't you being recruited for Football? I do not know if you will have all that time for a fraternity and/ or to pledge, pledging is a very lengthy process.

jkrock, my son pledged a fraternity as a junior transfer. He felt that it was a good decision as he was able to meet many people at once and make some good friends as a newcomer to campus. It is just an easy way to immediately have a social group coming to the school "late".

I would also say he probably had less trouble with the pledging than freshmen in his pledge class---he was older, more mature, had college experience with time management, etc. Though if you are going to play a varsity sport, I don't see how you would have the time. In fact, are varsity athletes even "allowed" to go Greek?
