Greek Life + Hazing

I am considering rushing in the fall. What are the reputation of the sororities? and which ones haze? If you can't say it on the thread, PM me. Thanks!

I’d like to know this too, please!

Sororities here really don’t haze at all, it’s the fraternities that may (though it depends on the fraternity).

I heard SAE got kicked off campus due to extreme hazing. Is that true?

no, they got suspended for last semester, but they’re back now

SAE got screwed over tbh. Basically every fraternity hazes. SAE is admittedly probably one of the worst. But they got unlucky because they got caught, and then got kicked out of IFC for a semester because the president of Pike hated SAE and was looking to move up the social ladder and thought by getting SAE removed, they’d lose their ‘rep’. However, this didn’t really work, and SAE still pulls *****es.

In conclusion, greek life is ■■■■■■■■.

I’m not too worried about sororities hazing, but can anyone speak to the reputations of the sororities? Thanks so much.

I can’t believe I’m advocating this because I don’t really like the Greek System’s way of ranking itself, but if you go to collegeacb.com and go on the Michigan forums, you can search for links whereby the sororities are ranked based on their associated stereotype/attractiveness of the girls. It’s a pretty crude way of doing it, and 75% of the stuff there isn’t true, but it’ll give you an idea of how the gossip-y people of greek life view other people.

I’ve heard some rumors about sorority hazing. Mostly it’s just forcive drinking… but that can make some people really uncomfortable…

In terms of fraternities. I know that Lambda Chi Alpha’s national fraternity was the first to absolutly ban hazing, and they take that very seriously at the UM chapter.
