Greek Life stereotype

So, from what I've heard, Greek life at Michigan is mostly just rich, out-of-state kids. For those who go to UMich, would you say that's accurate?

if its a “stereotype” (as you even call it yourself) do you think its true?

Stereotypes generally have some basis in truth.

There is at least some truth in most stereotypes, don’t you think? They don’t just appear out of thin air.

I’m just trying to get a feel for what the student body is like at Michigan. I know state schools like UMich are so large that you’re bound to get a little of everything, but the Greek community is definitely a smaller subset of the student body.

There’s definitely a greater proportion of OOS rich kids in fraternities than in the general UM population, but there are still plenty of in state kids in fraternities – many of whom are paying their own way through college + fraternity dues.
