Hey guys,

So I'm a newly admitted transfer student into UCI and wanted to joing as many clubs and organizations as possible so I want to joing a sorority. Can anyone who actually goes to UCI tell me about the "reputation" of each chapter?

Also, my biggest thing is the COST. I am a broke college student and I keep trying to find out what the cost of joining is but everyone tells me "it varies". what does it vary upon? and does it range in the $$, $$$, or $$$$ per month? Is the price different if I don't live in the house?

Lastly, I will not have a car next year, is this going to be a big issue?

Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!!!

I would say go through fall formal recruitment. You get to see every single chapter you sign up on the uci panhellenic site. During formal recruitment you will get a packet that says exactly how much each costs. We are all broke college students, but I know people get jobs because of the connections they have with the girls in their chapter. Get to know the reputation of each chapter on your own experiences. Dont believe what others tell you but go into recruitment with an open mind. A car is nice but not essential. I want two years without a car and now I have one, so you can go at least a year without a car.

As the person above said, you will get a packet that tells you how much each one costs. Also, you really shouldn’t worry too much about “reputation” for the sororities because most of them aren’t true, and really all that is going to matter in the end is how close you are to the people in your chapter and how you relate to your sisters. I am actually in a sorority at UCI and I love it! I went into recruitment trying to find the people I could relate to best and it ended up being the best thing for me in the end. People who are too worried about reputation may end up getting into the more popular sororities if they try really hard, but if they only got into it by being fake and not because they actually liked the girls, they won’t be happy with their experience. Go with the chapter that makes you feel the most comfortable and just be yourself!! If you haven’t signed up for recruitment already, you should like the UCI panhellenic group on facebook:
[UC Irvine Panhellenic Association | Facebook](UC Irvine Panhellenic Association)

and then sign up for recruitment here:
https://secureapp.icsrecruiter.com/ICS/GM/v3/Pan/Web/Enrollment/RegistrationV3b.aspx?UID=UNCAIR

Also, if you really are interested in learning about all of the chapters before you go through recruitment, you can always look at their facebook pages and look through their pictures, or look at their websites and see their mottos and their philanthropies. The panhellenic chapters at Irvine are: (in greek alphabetical order)

Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Phi, Gamma Phi Beta, Delta Gamma, Delta Delta Delta, , Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Pi Beta Phi, Sigma Kappa

Oh, and about having a car…it’s reallyy nice to have a car so that you can go shopping and go to the beach, but it’s not necessary. Also, if you join a sorority, then you will usually have lots of people who will be able to take you places. But still, it’s nice to have the freedom to go whenever you want.

Anyways, good luck with recruitment and I hope you LOVE UC Irvine and going through recruitment!!! Good luck!! <3 <3

Delta Gammas!!! So beautiful. …D:
