So, I've been told that Greek life is pretty big at Wake, but that you can still have a social life if you decide not to join. I know on each campus though, each Greek chapter kind of has a sterotype attached to it. I was wondering if any current students would mind kind of talking about how the different chapters are viewed, especially the sororities?

Bringing this back. I would kind of be interested in this too. I don't know if I'll join a sorority though. Wake is probably the only school at which I would join one.

I am a freshmen here at Wake. The greek life here is huuuuge and I mean that it is pretty much the only social life around here. Yeah there are other clubs and things around, but if you are looking for something to do on a Friday night you will most likely find yourself looking at the flyers around campus for an ad for a frat party. I am pledging at a frat here and I am one of the last people who would ever pledge a frat. I thought that if I didn't pledge at a frat I would not get the proper "Wake Forest Experience". If you are into the Greek scene you won't have a problem, and if you aren't, you will most likely find yourself sucked into it like me.

For Frats, do you have to live in a house with your Frat, or is it just the lounges?
I just wouldn't want my entire social life fixated around a single fraternity.

I disagree, WFdeac09. Granted, I tend not to go to parties a whole lot, and if I wanted to, the only available options would be the frat parties, but I usually find stuff to do on a Friday night. Stuff that I enjoy and that's not associated with Greek life. Willmingtonwave, you don't have to live with your fraternity, though lots do. I think, but I'm not sure, that more guys in the fraternities live in Greek housing than girls in sororities do.

what are YOU doing here missy?

you know wake is on my list.

you have to live on campus for 2 years because that is what your residence life and housing contract says, but a lot of my frat brothers live off campus. Many of the brothers in the frats live on the halls above their lounge but some of them are scattered around campus or they will get together and rent a house or an apartment. I would say that 80% of this campus is somewhat related to Greek life.

what are the sterotypes about each sorority / fraternity? (the snobby one, the nerdy one, etc etc)

I don't think many people would publicly post the stereotypes of the different Greek organizations. I definitely won't/ can't because of pledging and personal restrictions. The stereotypes of each Greek organizations are unique to each individual. Whatever you think of each organization is your own choice.
