I am very interested in Kenyon, but I would rather not be a part of Greek life and am applying mostly to schools that do not have fraternities and sororities. How big a part does Greek life play at Kenyon?
Hi- I’m a first year at Kenyon and was also concerned about Greek life during my college search last year. Here is what I know- Something unique to Kenyon is that there are no sorority or fraternity houses; they live in the dorms with the rest of us. Also know that there is a strict no hazing policy. They host parties on the weekends, but so do other organizations (like sports teams, clubs, etc). All parties are registered through the college. You can participate in Greek life if you want (some of my friends do and love it), but it’s not really my thing and I have found there are plenty of other fun things to do.
I’m a rising senior at Kenyon, and Greek life is very special at Kenyon. It is there if you want to embark on it, but it is not particularly prevalent. It’s there and it just another part of the community and campus life. They throw parties and run other events and fundraise, but they are mostly open and inclusive to all at their events, so it’s a good addition to the campus if you ask me.
