Greek Life is not a huge factor in my college decision but I would like to join a fraternity so I think I should atleast consider this. Anyone that attends/graduated Clemson care to comment on what it’s like to not have individual houses? Im honestly a little confused on how it works with frats and sororities in dorms and I feel like that just wouldnt be the same as other universities. Thanks!
I have been looking more at the sorority side of Greek Life. But what I have seen is that a lot of the fraternities have “houses” that just aren’t on Clemson’s campus. They are either in nearby neighborhoods or a few blocks away. My understanding is that these houses are just privately owned or rented by a member or friend of the fraternity. I have heard that some are within walking distance and others are within driving distance. I am not sure if the members live in these houses, but I do know that they exist.
I know that Clemson has plans for a sorority village to be completed in 2017, though I am sure that they are behind schedule. (Just because I haven’t heard much about it.) As far as I know, there are not plans to build anything for the Fraternities.
This is just what I have heard through the grape vine. I am not a student or anything like that, but if you start like following members of the Clemson Greek community on social media (if you can find them) you might be able to figure out a little more of what it is like so you can make your own decision.
