Greek Life

Can someone give me a breakdown on greek life for transfers? I am suuuper on the fence about rushing. Also I am a biology major so does it really take THAT much time? not trying to be annoying at all, please no hate haha

Fraternity or sorority? Social, professional, or multicultural? Depending on your answers to those makes a huge difference.

Social sorority

@pipismydog Greek life is really big at Ucla. IFC and PanHellenic Greek life makes up about 13% of the entire student body which is a sizable amount for a 30k undergrad population. It’s definitely worthwhile and you’ll meet your best friends in a house. Sororities do have to take some transfers as a part of quota but it is tougher to join a house the older you get. Formal recruitment begins zero week and is pretty much all day. As for time commitment you’ll have new member meetings once a week and sisterhood and social events to go to throughout the week. It’s very manageable for pretty much any major. After your new member quarter ends it’s pretty much you get out what you put in. Some are really active others don’t do much. Let me know if you have more specific questions.
