Is there a negative impact on the social life a male student under 21 (particularly freshman) if he doesn't join a frat?

i’m betting that you can have a great social life regardless of whether or not youre in a frat

frats tend to be really exclusive, so if you aren’t in a frat or don’t know anyone in a frat, your social life will be limited, since frats dominate the party scene.

You can have a social life without joining a fraternity. You just won’t be able to go to most of their parties.

About how much does it cost to join a frat?

Ok, from being a freshmen last year, this is how it worked.
Personally, i believe the greek life gives you the only social life available. I’m not sure if it was because i lived in New/North, but i found there was really nothing to do unless you were either a girl or a guy in some sort of frat. Pretty much, i found nothing to do because everyone was gone from the building every single weekend on the row somewhere. I’m sure if you find a bunch of friends that live in different places, you’ll have some sort of social life. But, if you end up in New/North, and you don’t join the greek life, I find it very hard to have a social life. Either that or i’m a loser.

You should go out and get involved in clubs and activities. Make some friends there, and get invited to their parties. Whatever people may say or feel, the greeks don’t have a monopoly on USC’s social scene.

And honestly, if you’re only going greek because it’s “the only way”, then you aren’t trying hard enough.

Joining a frat is really beneficial for guys, because even though the row isn’t “the only way” to have a social life, it’s the easiest and best way. The Row has parties every week, and guys can’t get into them unless they are either in the frat throwing the party or VERY close to someone in the frat that will get you in (I say very because they have really strict rules about that kind of thing…you’re going to have to be very close to one of the frat guys for him to break the rules for you.)

How about club sports? Volunteer to help others in one of the service groups. Join one of the religious groups. They have a full schedule of social activities. Offer to assist one of the alternative music groups with setting up or publicity. Help out at the School of Theatre with painting scenery or building sets.

By doing one of these you will meet people and find students who do not have to party to have fun.

Hi,
How important is it to register for rush prior to going to tours of the frats?
Thanks.

does someone here know the address for the tke house on the row?
