If I pledge for a sorority, and then later decide to transfer to a different school; will I be accepted into the new chapter at the school I transfer to?

Speaking from the fraternity perspective (and I think we can assume that they are the same), technically yes you are a sister in the sorority nation wide and won’t have to re-pledge. That being said, realistically it seems to me that you would want to re-pledge for social reasons. Sure nationals might say they HAVE to accept you, but they won’t want to if you skip their pledging process and making bonds with our pledge class. I’m a greek xfering as well and I’m just going to rush all over again and if I end up at the same house, I end up at the same house.

Once you rush, get invited to a frat/sorority, accept the invitation and are initiated you are a full fledged member of that organization. Ideally you should be able to go to any campus where that chapter exists and be accepted by the other members (although due to bonding experiences and cliques that doesn’t always happen). But yeah, you’re still a member.

If you go through the pledge period, are Initiated and then transfer you CANNOT just go through rush and join another house if that’s how it ends up like Laguna said. You won’t be able to rush.

If you accepted the invitation and went through the pledge period but dropped before initiation, my understanding is that you’re able to go through rush again and accept at another house. But again, ONLY if you DIDN’T initiate.
