Gridlock on Gameday?

Just wondering how difficult it is to get around Tally on gamedays. . .S is coming home for Labor Day, but driving back early Monday for the Miami game. Will he find a parking space on campus? Also, we are thinking of going up for a November game, but don't have a hotel yet, so will probably be staying in some other town. (We have tickets.) Will we be able to drive into Tallahassee or is there complete gridlock?

There are parking lots that students cannot park in from 12:01 am gameday until after the game is over. But overall, there will be plenty of spots when he gets back since the game is not until 8pm. He just has to go online and look at the lots that are not to be used. They are also marked. There are several garages that are fine.

Just have patience driving into Tally on game days. It is not gridlock. It is helpful to know alternative routes. Hwy 90/mahan coming from the east is crazy. But you can exit sooner and come in via Apalachee/hwy 27. Just allow time. And after, just be patient. If everyone in the stadium leaves within the same hour, no one is getting anywhere fast. But they really have the traffic down, the cops are directing. We don’t find it to be a problem. We don’t try to park close, and by the time we walk to the car, lots of cars have left. You can also park at the Civic Center and take a $3 shuttle. OK, there will be lines on the way back, but you can also walk. Lots of parking there.

Go for it. We go to 4 games a year, drive 6 hours one way from south Florida, and have a BALL.

Thanks, Sunnyflorida. Now I just have to find a hotel!! But if driving and parking are doable, then there is hope!

Best of luck in your quest for a hotel room.

CJM, I have reservations for all home games in Nov, but may NOT be making the trip. We go Sept and Oct, and if there is a UF home game in Nov, but sometimes by Nov my schedule does not allow. If you find a room you can hold with a reservation and you don’t have to prepay, but you can only find one 60 min away, I will keep you posted if we don’t go and if family does not go. Our reservations did not require a deposit, so I can let it go if I call, or I can let you know…

Sounds like a plan. I will call around today. We are actually looking at the Nov 21 game against Maryland, I think.
