Wow, I'm freaking out right now. If your daugther was waitlisted, then I'm screwed, unless I played the race card well enough to get in. I talked to a postoffice work today and she told me that it takes about 3-4 days for Iowa mail to arrive in Louisiana. This means that tomorrow might be the day! I am so worried right now.....

Gahhhh still no letter. Im from Mass. has anyone gotten their letters yet from massachusetts? or new england? uhhh probably rejected...

Don't worry, Building Wings. A boy who lives in our town and goes to HS with my daughter didn't have stats as impressive "on paper" but he got in to Grinnell, so you never know.

I would think that bigger envelopes take longer to arrive? Just a thought.

I'm jaw-droppingly shocked, reading about your daughter jnsq. I had the same reaction as your son--who in the world wouldn't admit this wonderful person? I totally understand your anger at GC--what he or she said would have been true a few years ago, but GCs should be keeping up with the horrendous crunch that is going on this year. And even though I love Grinnell, I also feel it was inappropriate for an admissions counselor to be so encouraging and then wait-list. Unfortunately, girls are at a disadvantage now, because there are so many superlative ones applying to LACs. As you say, we all know that worse things can happen, but it is heartbreaking and infuriating.

Thank you, Je ne sais quoi. Before this week, I found the idea of parents posting on college forums a little "weird," however you have truely changed that view. I wish the best of luck you and your daugther. I am sure that she will do amazingly, whereever that may be.

I sure hope it takes longer for bigger envelopes to arrive. : )

:-\ waitlisted.

does anyone know how the waitlist system at grinnell typically works?

You sign the card and then if they have room for you they let you in.

I STILL haven't heard. Going a little crazy...

Last year, 279 accepted a position on the waitlist for Grinnell and 16 were admitted from the waitlist. It's not hopeless, but be sure to contact them with any additional information, recommendations, honors, expressed interest, etc.

My D was waitlisted, too.

stats:

yadda yadda yadda
She is a white female

She is sad, but reveling in the five admission offers she does have. She won't be holding her place on the wait list because she needs a little FA. She even hauled her tush out to Iowa and really liked it there.....Oh, well.

Congratulations all you admits!

citrusbelt

I'm so sorry to hear this too, but glad she has other great options. Must have been a killer year!

Largest application pool in the history of the college. So I'm sending Grinnell a love letter, telling them why I'm a good fit and why they should let me in off the waitlist, and I was wondering, Should I beg for admission, or would that make me seem crazy?

Who should I send my Grinnell love letter to?

Is baking them cookies weird?

Is baking them cookies still weird if I list one of the reasons they should pick me from the wait list because I could contribute good, morale-raising, spirit-boosting cookies to the community?

Congrats to you elbartoisthebest! And to all the other admits!

I'm sensing a little Tufts syndrome this year from Grinnell?

Finally the letter in SoCal, postmarked 3/25. But ahh... waitlisted at yet another school.
Is the wait-list binding if eventually accepted? But more importantly...
...would Grinnell be very inviting if I visited the campus for the first time early next month?

Hi Chris - wait-list is definitely not binding should you eventually be accepted - you can turn them down and they will just move onto the next person in line :)

I think it shows the grinnell.edu email for everyone who has a Pioneer Web account...

imcurious- I have it as mine too, but I'm not getting my hopes up until someone who was rejected/waitlisted checks and says it's not like that. Any takers?

Nothing yet in Pennsylvania.... Pffft.

It's really ick about the Tuft's Syndrome- I'd cry too. And I'd be impossibly angry- especially with the email from admissions, which sounds like a likely letter to me.

Wow, looking at all of these waitlist posts, I'm honestly shocked that I got in...
