Anyone have any guess on when decisions come out?
I searched online to see if there was info about notification dates. An article popped up from last December from the Scarlet and Black, the school paper, and it said that early decision notifications for 2018 were sent out (letters posted to student account) Friday, December 7 at 5 PM. So, maybe as early as next week for us this year?! My daughter applied early decision.
@Lee1123 I spoke to the admissions office, and found out that it will be “by December 13th at the latest.” I’m hoping it’ll be this Friday, though!
Last year Thanksgiving was a week earlier. So, December 13 actually sounds more likely for this year, since they just got back from break today. Good luck!
@Lee1123 It’s certainly possible. Let’s hope it’s tomorrow, though!
Decisions are out! I got accepted!
Woo hoo!!! My daughter got in! Her older sister is class of 2023, so I now have TWO Grinnellians!
How much of a factor does racial and geographic diversity play in admissions to Grinnell? Anybody have any ideas of what they value?
My daughter was accepted:)
Congratulations to her! That’s so exciting. I applied ED to Middlebury, but if I don’t get in, Grinnell is at the top of my list. Do you mind sharing her stats/ecs? no pressure, of course!
I got accepted as well AHHH
Her school just implemented UW GPA this year-she has always had a 4.0 and now is higher with UW-not sure what it was at time of ED application. Many honors and AP classes. 33 ACT. She was happy with that so didn’t take it again. EC’s include lots of choir, show choir, theatre, band and piano. Volunteers with several community programs. Has been recognized with leadership awards. She was interested in other schools too, but decided to take the plunge and go ED with Grinnell, because after visiting a couple times, and sitting in on classes, she felt it ticked off so many of the boxes on her priority list for what she wants-travel opportunities being one of her biggest priorities. And the ability to double major. The open curriculum (i.e individually advised curriculum) was a big draw, the small class sizes, etc… The combination of academic rigor and social activism at Grinnell makes it a good fit for her.
Congratulations to everyone accepted. Grinnell is a truly exceptional college, and I doubt you’d get a more thorough, rigorous education anywhere else. It is also filled with the most kind, unpretentious students I’ve had the privilege of meeting.
