Grinnell ED 2023 Thread

Hi! Anyone else applying ED to Grinnell?

Yes - my DD - just waiting

I am! I wonder how competitive ED is, compared to RD. Obviously the admission rate is higher, but in terms of candidate quality–people for whom it’s a reach school probably won’t apply ED, but neither will people aiming higher.

We’re in Wisconsin. Where is everybody else from?

Illinois! and I was wondering the same thing about how competitive it is!! I have a good idea of what RD applicants look like, but not for ED.

Any recruited athletes? I know Grinnell has been trying to increase the number of athletes going ED. Tennis for my D.

I’m from IL too. Not an athlete per se, but I do have a black belt, and I did say I’d be interested in doing martial arts at college.

When do you guys think results come out? I know they’re mid-December but I think they came out on December 8th last year.

Think you’re right - only about a week to go

My DD applied can’t wait to find out.

How are you notified? Email?

Yeah I think we get emails

hello there potential '23ers! best of luck to all of you. should you get in, i can’t wait to see you next year!

Hi there,
My nephew just applied to Grinnell college this year using ed1. He is an international student asking for financial aid. He was waitlisted last year when he applied RD. Does being waitlisted the previous year have any effect on his admission chances this year?

I’m not sure about about being waitlisted, but I do know asking for financial aid doesn’t have any effect on admissions- Grinnell is a need blind school!

Grinnell is need aware for international students.

Admission notification, based on recent years, will come in the form of an email that says something like “Your application status has been updated. Please check your portal.”

Good luck everyone.

I have heard that last year the results of Grinnell’s ED-I were published on 8th December (Friday). Does anyone know when the results will be published this year?

Looks like today is the day

Oh my gosh!!! I’m so nervous

I’m so excited for you all! D19 wasn’t able to do ED since finances play a strong role for us. March seems like a LONG way away. We’ll have to live vicariously through you EDers. Good luck!!
