I want to major in economics and I have been reading several posts about this two colleges. As far as I have read, Mac has a stronger econ department but grinnell is more prestigious overall. I really don't care about the weather and the isolated characteristic of Grinnell. I like active classes where I can take part of interesting debates. I am very hard-working and want to attend the college that can prepare me the most for getting a BA or a PhD. Both have offered me great FA and are my two big choices. I am an international student, by the way.

They are both amazing schools and you couldn’t lose by going to either. I looked on the Grinnell website and they said not many of their Econ majors choose to go on to grad school in that field. You can see what the Mac site says. You are fortunate to attend either of these schools. If you have other questions, not related to Econ, I might be more helpful. My son is a history major at Grinnell, but also applied to Mac and would have been very happy there too. My niece graduated from Mac, majoring in Psychology.

Grinnell has one of the highest number of students per capita that go on to get their ph’ds in economics. They have an incredible econ program. Please see the below link. My S will be attending in the fall and I would be happy to tell you whatever I can about Grinnell. We considered Mac too which is a great school, but fell in love with Grinnell due to fit.
