Congrats to BlueRaven1, synchroswimmer, nerdgeekdork and smarty9911 for getting into Groton! I just joined this forum and also applied to Groton for 8th grade. I got waitlisted. I really hope some other kids decide not to go, so that waitlist can change to accepted.

*and theaterkid :)

good luck wallace!

heyy…im applying for 2nd form late…im kinda concerned if ill get in or not…what did u get on ur ssat??? i got 88th… do u think thats good enough if I have good…ec’s and good like kinda camps attended??

It’s kind of annoying when you tell people where you’re going to Groton they stare at you blankly, so then I go it’s kind of a peer school to Exeter andd then they go ahhhhhh and then they look at me like I wasn’t good enough for PEA. I know I should get over it but bleh… Groton is just as hard to get into as Exeter… I know it isn’t about prestige at all but I AM human. Although the other day this kid w/ a parent was treating me like I was dumb trash because I go to public school and then the adult asked me where I was going next year and I said Groton and wow, the words ‘total attitued change’ doesn’t begin to cover it ;).

LOL, Blueraven, from the way you describe it, I would’ve liked to see her face.

Hey BlueRaven, if it makes you feel any better, the next time someone asks me where Son is going next year I’ll say, “Well, since he was waitlisted at Groton, it looks like he’s going to END UP at Exeter. Yeah, we’re all kinda disappointed.”

:)

“People who know”, know Groton. Don’t worry about it.

Groton is a special place for sure. It is the classic boarding school caricature while at the same time being the real-deal academically. Time has been good for Groton; it has begun to smooth away that WASP-y, wealth-driven birthmark that long identified the student body and pushed the School toward a more egalitarian, merit-driven, diverse and interesting collection of kids. While still more blue blood than any other top boarding school, it is unquestionably among the best of the best. And to Neato’s point, anyone who knows boarding schools knows Groton.

In case anyone is wondering…I am totally kidding about being disappointed with Exeter. BUT, if he had gotten into both Groton and Exeter, it would have been a very difficult decision for him.
