Groton Headmaster Leaving the School?

I also posted this by accident in Parent Forum.... I was told by a parent whose child was admitted that the family received an email saying that the headmaster of Groton is leaving. Does anyone have any more information? Although we know the chances of getting off the waitlist are small, I would like to know if there are issues at the school that should make me worry.

A google search seems to indicate that this is true…he’s returning to Harvard-Westlake, where he once served.

Mr Commons has indeed written to tell everyone that he will be leaving at the end of 2013.
His wife is a Harvard-Westlake graduate, her family is all in LA and he was offered the Presidency of the school. I do not believe that this is in any way other than a personal decision.
There are no issues at Groton right now, it has had an exceptional early admission year, there are no scandals, and he was most certainly not forced out
Life happens!

Mr. Commons did a fine job following in the footsteps of the legendary Bill Polk and will be missed. In this era of boarding schools, it is rare for a head to stay on for 10 years, gone are the days of 20/30 year tenures (or more in the case of Deerfield’s Boyden). As a Groton alum, I’ve enjoyed getting to know Rick and know that he’ll be a great asset to H-W and we all wish him the best in future years (especially his last year at Groton in '12/'13).
