I am very young so I play u12. I am trying out for ODP this summer though. My club team is very good and I think I am one of the best players on the team.

aren’t the ssat’s out of 2400?

I took the lower level which is out of 2100

oh… pshh, I just noticed that Groton is from grades 8-12, sorry.

Lol thats okay…

Groton141, are you applying for eighth grade? Also, are you a boy or a girl? I applied to eighth grade as well and I’m nervous–can’t wait for March 11th! We have similar stats, except instead of soccer, I swim. Given my luck, Groton doesn’t have a swim team–let alone a synchronized swimming team! I’m applying as a boarder. Hopefully, we both get in. Good luck!

Admissions says they start sending emails after Feb 1 confirming receipt of applications. Anyone hear anything earlier? Right now all I have is the delivery confirmation from Fedex.

We received an email from Groton last week stating the application was complete. Now the wait begins…

synchroswimmer, I am applying for eighth grade as well. It is great to know that someone is in the same boat as me! I am a girl. Are you a boy or a girl?
Please PM me when you find out if you got in!

I’m a girl as well! Okay, I’ll be sure to PM you…in 31 days. (Haha, is it bad that I made a countdown? lol)

No I made one too lol! Okay well good luck!

strike “lol” from your lexicon. Use of it is a deal breaker at Groton.

Have you received any personal communication from the AD or anyone else at the school?
Clear sign if you have.

Very, very few 8th graders are admitted. Probably easier to get in next year.
Also, if you are accepted, they will make 100% sure you can attend ($-wise)

Yeah, just checked, 27 total students in 8th grade

BigblueGirl2012 - Are you in Groton? I have applied to the 8th grade as well. Have not heard anything from anyone but they did say it was a quiet period and they were not allowed to talk to the applicants… I guess the number of applicants to 8th grade must be lower as well so the pct of admits likely is the same as in the 9th grade. Is that true? You were joking about the “lol” use and it being a deal breaker…? Definitely not the sense that I got when I visited.

One more thing - When you said “if you are accepted, they will make 100% sure you can attend ($-wise)” Did you mean that if they accept you they will make sure they give you enough FA to attend or that they make sure you have the ability to pay the tuition and only take non FA applicants? Thx

synchroswimmer - I guess you must be in a synchro team. That’s sooo cool. I don’t know how you manage to do all those cool moves under water. Even though Groton does not have synchro team you will be the only synchcro swimmer that is applying!! Adds to the diversity of the class. Hope we both get in. Then maybe you can teach me a few moves…!

If they accept you they will give you the amount of FA you need to enable you to go.
One of the reasons I applied there. Could never afford it otherwise.

I do not go to groton but applied and was accepted and went through the whole process of FA etc. Made a different choice. Can you guess where?

Yes I was kidding about the “lol”.
I’ve recently sworn off internet slang initialisms, so they all bother me now; like a smoker who quits and realizes for the first time how nasty it is.

SO where are you now… Big Blue…Hmm. Not sure I can guess. Do you have any idea how many apply to 8th grade vs 9th grade? Did you apply for 8th or 9th grade? Also when they email decisions what time do they send it out?? (So that I don’t drive myself crazy checking my email!!)

27 total students means you’re competing for 14 female spots with the rest of the world.
Just saying

My recollection is finding out via the Fedex envelope rather than e-mail
My advice is forget about everything until March 10th 'cause there is nothing you can do now.
