Groton

Is there a club for libertarian leaning conservatives? Is the atmosphere so PC that it is best to keep ones mouth shut or is open debate encouraged?

There aren’t any political clubs, but you could probably start one if you want.

Open debate in what forum? The student newspaper allows students to speak their minds, but I’m not sure about any other contexts

@Bronco
In fact, there is a political club on campus: It is called the Young Republicans Club, even though members from each party are welcome to discuss and debate issues of all kinds.

Politics are debated here, but there is also a formal debate society where politics are touched upon now and then.

The Young Republicans club only met once this year so I don’t really consider it to be active at all…

We also have guest speakers that touch on some hot button issues, this year we had them on race, homosexuality, the War in the Middle East, etc.

Josh - congratulations on St. Mark’s!

I would like to point out ( and sorry for beating what may be a dead horse (not a dead zebra  ) that many adults (myself included) are offended by the use of a certain four letter word, which has unfortunately become part of the common vernacular of todays generation. Not that many kids know that, heck even our past president used it on occasion.

Sometimes I think I’m the only one alive who thinks this way, and I’m not really that old!

How hard is it to get accepted as an incoming sophomore?

Thanks Sadie :)

But…I’m kind of wondering what word you were referring to? Did you mean * suck *? If so, sorry for using it on my previous post…and sorry for using it again on this post :).

does groton offer drivers ed

I’m with Sadie…I think it’s because we’re of the generation that invented that word as cuss word, and we’re much more aware of what it meant/where it originated and so why it was such a nasty thing to say back in the day…but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that one out ;)

it`s an immature word for any generation.

I’m still kind of confused as to what word you’re referring to…

JoshByron… you have the same initials as Justin Bieber.

I had to point that out.

I have a few questions:

–Is it difficult to maintain your studies and your social life at the same time?
–What kinds of grades should I expect? (I maintained high A’s at my old school)
–Are there a lot of rich snobs?

BHAHAHA -And James Blunt :)

@Josh: you were right in post 27–funny that it has such a gross-out factor for me I don’t even like quoting it!

I’m really sorry then. I kind of understand where you’re coming from. My grandfather was telling me how he was around 20 when motherf***** first came out. He said that it was just a horrible word when it first came out…and it’s still that way today. So, I understand. Sorry. It’s just, you see so many kids (younger than me even) saying such foul words - much worse than suck, so you kind of get the feeling that it isn’t such a bad word anymore. So, pardon moi :)

You guys should watch:

****: A documentary

It is really interesting.

Can you post a link?

go to youtube.

Wait…what’s it called? The **** blocked it out.
