@Hockeykid95 - Groton does not offer Drivers Ed

@Pandapanda - I am not in the admissions department so I don’t know

@Nerdgeekdork - It isn’t too difficult, as long as you know how to work and are a social person. A mixture of A’s and B’s, anything over a 90 is extremely impressive. I had C’s, B’s, and A’s in middle school and get the same at Groton
Not many rich snobs at all

Your very nice apology accepted Josh. I know where you’re coming from too…I hear it coming from seven year olds, and I really don’t think kids know what it actually means anymore.

Thanks, Bronco!
The thing about dirty words nowadays is that they’re used so much that they don’t even mean anything anymore… it’s horrible, really.

Well, for unique aspects: Groton has a relatively small student body compared to some of the other boarding schools in the area. The small size makes the school a really tight knit community where you know everyone and it feels more like a large family; your dormmates are like siblings and teachers are like parents. Though it sounds cheesy, Groton is definitely an “Experience” that delves into more than just an education. There are many traditions at the school that have been kept over the years like sit down, parlor (each grade gathers at the headmaster’s house every couple of weeks for some quality bonding time), and surprise holiday (announced by the headmaster each term as a day off from classes). These traditions give Groton a very family-like feel and are a big part of the fun on the Circle over the school year.

Strengths: the education is top tier and there is an amazing group of faculty members. There are also small classes that challenge students. During the college process, college counselors play a big role by providing students with in-depth information about college life and where they should apply. The SAT scores of students are impressive and many students go to highly ranked colleges and universities such as the Ivy League schools.

@Bamagirl95: Since Groton is a small school people think that it is probably very cliquey and gossipy, but it really isn’t. Obviously you will find cliques in any high school; there are some tighter circles of friends at Groton, but it is easy to be acquaintances with anyone. You’ll probably get to know everyone pretty well, and make friends with the majority of your form. If you come in 9th grade this is especially easy because all of the ninth graders live in one area and you have classes with lots of different people.

@bamagirl, it’s really not. Like SineNomine said, there are groups of friends, and you’ll get along with some people better than others, but there aren’t exclusive cliques of “mean girls” or anything. Everyone knows each other, and it’s really great. (:

@Bronco5150-
Can you give me an example of a day at Groton ‘insane’ homework? What kind of assignments would be assigned? And can you also give an example of a day where the homework is very, very, easy? Thanks a lot.

Wow, just read that horrible U.D. description. If my child winds up at Groton, we’ll update it to read more like the SPS or Exeter definitions. :-)
