Got rejected by Berkeley (Letters & Science, non-capped major; gpa around ~3.5ish).

Was diagnosed with a pretty serious disease during Spring of last year (the non-curable type where I'll be on medication my entire life). It definitely affected me academically (both before and after I was diagnosed - Ws, part-time enrollment during some semesters).

I know they request significant new information if you're going to appeal. You think this counts as significant new information? My rejection was borderline devastating and I don't want to give up hope!

yes, appeal.
good luck! :)

yea dude go for it!

Anyone have any experience with this? From what I can gather from past posts, it seems like all the successful appeals to Berkeley were academic based (e.g. someon forgot to list a class). Doesn’t seem like they really take personal stuff into account (probably because every appeal is some kind of sob story).

when i appealed as a freshman applicant i talked about how my medical problems affected me academically when it came to my performance… i got rejected

good luck though!

nadiavar: Did you provide documentation? I’m including the diagnosis from my doctor.

Anyone else have any experience with Berkeley appeals?
