Group Projects :(

So who here hates group projects?

MY Story: So for English I have to do a group project with a couple of people. It's a video project, which basically means I'm forced to work with others. He assigned it to us many days before Christmas, and here I am on this Monday still not starting on it. The project itself is very time consuming ( a ten minute video, with a plot, characterization, "edit work" etc.)

So now I wasn't able to film today, as my group member forgot his camera. So starting from the time school ends to "who knows when" I have to shoot the whole video on Tuesday. Then my group member has to take it home and edit it. Finally the project is due Wednesday.

Just thinking about that makes me very sad.

Anyone have any stories about their past group projects?

ouch...my story's similar except my group started very early. it's for bio, and i have a feeling our video isn't quite as high tech as my teacher wanted. that just sucks for you. my advice is stay organized, and have everything prepared before hand.

Yeah, accountability is a terrible issue with group projects.

Two years ago we had a video project like that. I wrote the whole script, and one of the group members was very doubtful that it would work out. Throughout the entire shooting of the video, he constantly expressed uncertainty that the script would work.

But after we played the video for the class and everyone loved it, he apologized for doubting it would turn out well. ^_^

Guhhh, I hate group videos. I had to make one for HONORS CHEMISTRY... and ours sucked so I got 85. My classmate's rottweiler was really friendly though.

i HATE HATE DESPISE group projects. i hate it when the other person doesnt do work

I've worked it out with the majority of my teachers to be able to work alone. Normally if it's a video project they have another option, but when I must work in a group, I also hate it.

I'm a very obbsesive person about big projects and then when I'm working with people who aren't it's a killer.

wah wah I'm antisocial and can't work with other people even though that's a more valuable skill than you will learn in any university

I love group projects.

^^ LOL mephist0. I sort of agree with you.

I've had the great luck to work with only excellent groups (and I'm so optimistic that I've completely suppressed all memories of bad groups!).

I hate group projects more than all of you. I always opt to do things alone when I have a choice. Since my school doesn't have AP or honors, all of my classes are just regular college prep. So that means I don't get the AP-quality students from whom to choose for projects.

I hate group projects!!! Especially when the teacher chooses your group mates for your/there's no choice. I am OCD when it comes to these things. A or bust! My whole thing is, is that I am NOT going to fail because you didn't do the work, so I end up doing must of it (which I don't mind, but then they get mad...).

GRR....

group projects suck because my partners are always satisfied with Bs so they don't put in much effort.

i hate group projects because i'm really particular about things.... i wind up just telling my partner that i'll do it and all s/he has to do is show up.

I hate group projects because there is always an unbalance in responsibility and effort. There's always a slow kid who doesn't know what's happening, there's a kid who just doesn't care, another kid who tries but never gets the right answer, and a smart kid who ends up doing all the work.
(The two most important kids in the group are the last two)

Hm. Since so many of you guys hate group projects, would you...

...agree to work in a group consisting of only CC members?

Woah guys....I mean I don't love group projects, but I don't hate them either. They're just a somewhat annoying part of the curriculum. And as someone said they teach you how to play nice with the other kids (in case you didn't learn that when you were 5)

^Honestly, H*** no! From what I just read they would probably kill me....and I don't want to die yet.

"Hm. Since so many of you guys hate group projects, would you...

...agree to work in a group consisting of only CC members?"

Yes, CCers seem to be more reliable in general.

I enjoy group projects. I've never been in a bad group. Usually even if members would normally processtinate, they work on schedule for the sake of other members. You're going to have to work in groups all your life; you might as well learn to enjoy it.

If I were in a good group, I don't think I'd hate them as much

Yep, somehow I always end up doing all the work.

I'd agree to the CC only group as long as the group weren't full of 2 or more kids fighting to be the leader of the group so they could tell everyone else what to do. I find that incredibly obnoxious.
