Does anyone have experience with growing taller as a boy? I just hit 17 and I'm 5 foot 9 inches. I was 5 foot 6 when I was a 14 year old freshmen so I only grew 3 inches in high school. I really want to be around the neighborhood of 5'11'' or 6' so that's only 2 or 3 inches above my current height. Any tips?

I’m 5’6" and turn 17 in 3 months. Consider yourself lucky. And besides wearing basketball shoes, I have no “tips” regarding height.

I know this one guy who grew like 7 inches in college

i hope these leg pains that i’ve been having are growing pains

Anyone else? What foods are you supposed to eat?

Here’s a forum that revolves around ways to grow taller:

I sometimes feel like I willed myself into being short. Maybe you can will yourself into being tall?

Swimming and biking are effective. Ill need to do these too.

There isn’t much you can do. If your body’s meant to grow, it’ll grow. If not, maybe you can squeeze out an inch or less by doing stretching exercises everyday until your spine stretches out a bit (even this gain will gradually disappear unless you keep stretching everyday, or so they say at least). Trust me, I’ve walked down this path, and it is a very stressful path. So if you’re short and you’re not growing, then just move on and don’t dwell on it too much. If you’re a short guy like me, just hope you find a hot, short girl lol. If you’re a short girl, don’t worry, plenty of guys like petite girls.

If you want to know whether or not you will grow, get an xray of your growth plates. Doctors will typically check your wrist. They might also check ankles or knees. Either way, if they are closed, you are done or nearly done.

stretch your bones! XD haha just kidding. I stopped growing taller in 6th grade so … at least you’re kind of still growing? I’ll probably forever be 5’1’'…

Im 5’9" right now and am a freshmen. But my doctor said I’ll only grown to be 5’11"! Can this be right?

only 5’11"??? GASP.
that must outrage you.

I’m 5’0’’ and perfectly okay with it. Most of the time.

it outrages me because I play volleyball

I’m 5’11" as a rising sophomore. I’ve recently gotten more growing pains, and I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve been eating more salad/fruits/vegetables or just because I’m supposed to be growing at this point. I’m supposed to be 6’1" by the time I’m a senior.

The only way to help yourself grow taller is by maintaining a good diet (calcium especially), and being active. I’ve heard yoga can help elongate your spine and body a bit, but that may not be true. And sorry to Izzy Busy Bee, but growing pains aren’t actually real from what I’ve heard.
