Grr...Inadvertantly did well for a P/NP class

I took Math 53 P/NP but ended up getting an A in the class. Grrr...

I know there's no way to change the P/NP option back to the letter grade option, but I was wondering if there was a way to "unhide" the P grade?

For example, would I be able to add an addendum to my official transcript that shows what the actual grade was? Anyone else in this situation?

It doesn’t hurt to petition but… according to the request for exceptional change of class schedule petition from L&S, you need an extenuating circumstance to explain why you did not change it before the P/NP deadline.

And… explicitly stated “8) wishing to improve your gpa” is not an extenuating circumstance.

Still, I would petition anyways, but I thought you had to submit the materials by Dec. 19?

Thanks for the advice Firapira, but since the grades are already up, the petition deadline is probably past.

My question isn’t whether or not I should petition, but if there is a way to “unhide” the P grade. That way, while the grade would show up as a P and would not be factored in my GPA, there would be an addendum that reveals what the actual grade was. Has anyone done something like this before?

not sure if there is anyway to unhide it. I’m guessing it’s not possible.

Does NP count in your GPA slightly?

dang why did you take P/NP? were you not doing well in the beginning or something? because you must know something to get an A :P. did you have neu or lott?

sorry for hijacking the thread … but is there a way to find out my grade if i take a class p/np? I took nutri scie 10 this semester p/np, and all i see on bearfacts is a P. I’m curious about my grade… how do i find out? (apart from adding my marks up and doing all the calculations of course)

^I guess you can ask your GSI/professor…that’s about it as far as I know.

CCnewbie, ask your GSI.

Not at all.

Ask your GSI to write you a thing on official university letterhead that says you got an A. You probably couldn’t get it attached to your transcript, but most grad schools accept addenda about minutae like this.

Why don’t you petition saying that you intend to double major in a field that requires Math 53 as a prereq? Then, if they ask you why you took it P/NP, just tell them you were recently persuaded to pursue the new study. Worth a shot, in my opinion.
