Grubers COMPLETE Guide...

I know it is known for its math section but is the rest of the book including the tests worth going over?

Well, Gruber’s is a hell of a lot better than Barron’s.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO I just bought Barrons about a week ago thinking that now that it is the summer I can finally tackle the dreaded Barrons book that “over prepares” you… Is Barrons actually bad??? I thought it’s supposed to be amazing for review? If not, which sections, if any are the best for Barrons?

Barron’s math isn’t that bad. The reading sections are ****ing tedious and long.

What about both Grubers and Barrons practice tests? I have done all the BB tests and some PR ones so are they good practice?

^The general consensus on College Confidential is that one should NEVER use practice tests written by anyone other than the College Board.

Many will advise you here that if you haven’t reviewed every single question in the BB, including the ones you got correct, then you should buy another copy of the BB and start retaking the tests. You’ll likely be surprised at how many you got wrong both tries. Then, after taking a test, meticulously go through it to make sure you truly understand every single concept. So, if taking a test takes you three hours, then you should at least spend six or seven going over the answers.

This is the part part of the preparation that I hate most.

^Of course, however, it’s also the part that produces the best results. Yes, books like Cracking the SAT might help a person develop some sort of familiarity with the material covered on the SAT, but analyzing actual tests provided by College Board allows one to understand every single detail of the test.

I honestly do not see how that is possible… I always go over my tests and look over every question whether I got it wrong or not and see why I got it wrong/right and it takes me less than 3 hours…

^Well for me, taking notes greatly helps me analyze SATs more precisely.

Here’s a look at one of the CR passages I’ve gone through. Take notes like this, and one CR section should take at least an hour to go through.

http://i47.■■■■■■■.com/a5b49z.jpg

Be utterly meticulous.

I see what you mean, I kinda say those notes to myself in my head while I am going through it but I kinda feel like just writing it down is kind of a waste of time… I like your note about “Go on to the next page” :D

:| where did you get the pic omni??

^^Yeah I kinda missed four questions on my last SAT 'cause I didn’t turn a page. So I’m making a point to remember to do so now.

^I took those notes myself a while ago.

damn that must take a lot of time…also pens/highlighters aren’t allowed in the exam room

^Well I did the work beforehand, and only after finishing the test began to take those notes.

i like your method  hahaha, next time i review a test, i’ll use different pens and highlighters to keep myself entertained

grubers was just good for math learning. i didnt like their tests to much.

is there any way you’re supposed to use this book? Do you have to take the SAT diagnostic mini test and then the big SAT test first, or can you review first then test?

I skipped the mini test as I have taken tests before I just feel like a mini test is useless… I skipped straight to the math review as people say Grubers is good for math. However, what about Grubers writing and CR sections???

I would buy Rocket Review instead
