I hear Gruber's is the best for math SAT. When going to the bookstore, I found a Gruber's Complete SAT guide and also a Gruber's SAT workbook for Math only. Should I get both? I was going to get the big guide anyway for the other practice tests, but do you thinkt he math workbook would be more in depth and helpful as a companion?

The Complete SAT Guide…

Math is DEFINITELY my weak point (I got a 400 on the math section first time I took a practice test. ARGH) so I’ve done a fair bit of research into this.

From what I’ve heard, the math workbook doesn’t have any explanations in. So if you already have a comprehensive understanding of the math concepts and just want practice problems then get the workbook. If you are less confident on the math, then you probably won’t benefit from the workbook.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Complete SAT book, and while my copy only arrived on the day of my SAT test so I wasn’t able to use it, I’ve started to work through it ready for my January resit and I have nothing but good things to say about it.

On the other hand, unless you are already scoring well, like 700+ on every section, then avoid the Gruber’s 2400 book.

I found the most effective book for elementary understanding of the concepts was the Blue Book, and then the Princeton Review (but I didn’t think the practice tests in PR were indicative of the real tests).
