I was looking through amazon, trying to figure out what prep books to buy and I stumbled upon Gruber's New SAT. I've heard good things about the old one, but does anyone have any experiance with the new version? I was considering buying it (I must admit, partly because I really like saying the word "Gruber's"). If not this one, then which one is better to have?

I haven't tried "Gruber's" but I'd rather stick to the more famous stuff: The Blue book, Barron's, PR 11...etc.
get one of those, and stay away from Kaplan and Grammatix; they suck.

BTW: Gruber's is kinda nice to say; I'm almost tempted to buy it myself.

I LOVE GRUBERS!! their vocab list is the best u kno why? becuz they give 2 meanings when there are two and 3 when there are 3 while kaplans and other books only give 1 meaning. THE vocab definitions are simple and nice and easy to understand..they're just like 1 words or 2 words --which makes it easy to remember but for other books, its like sooo long and u just wanna know the BASIC definition of the word. ALSO, gruber's has very goooooood strategies, i recommend it.

along the same train of thought, have you guys heard of the book Math Shortcuts to Ace the SAT 1? Its got so mnay tricks and trades in there for the SAT. I really recommend that if you are looking for shortcuts to doing math problems...its got things like:

whats the average of 10,15,20,25,30? its 20, u kno y? cuz numbers with even intervals the average is always the middle number! yeah, thats a nifty trick right there i never knew.

I plan to do all my practice tests with the blue book, but I wanted something for strategies, reviewing key concepts, and vocabulary. I ordered it and it should be coming in soon. Who doesn't love saying the word grubers? It's just a funny word.

hahahhahah gruuuuuu berrrrs
