Hello,
I am taking the GSAE soon and am looking for more info on what to expect. A couple of threads I found said it is similar to the SAT; does this mean if I buy/study an SAT prep book this should give me a general feeling of what to expect? Is it easier, harder, or about the same? Additionally, I am unclear exactly how the scoring works, and the GS website isn't very helpful. Finally, I haven't been able to find anything about the essay. Is it at all like the essay section of the new SAT? Or is it more dealing with personal things like why I want to transfer, why Columbia, etc?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

I had the same questions you did a while back. If you have read anything about it, you have no doubt heard it is easy. Well, I took it Sunday and it is as easy as everyone says. You do not have to study at all.

I did not take the SAT, so I have no basis for comparison, but I have been out of school for 5 years and thought it was cake.

Thank you for your reply. Glad to hear you didn't think it was difficult. At this point, I guess the only thing I'm worried about is the essay. Did you find that part challenging? Were there multiple prompts to choose from? Was it supposed to be a personal narrative essay, analytical, etc? How specific were the instructions? Writing under time constraints like in-class essays always stressed me out and I prefer very clear instructions.
Thanks

It is not my place to make the details of their exam public, so I will not be the one to spill the beans. However, I can tell you that the prompt is very easy to write on... You will not have a problem. As in any timed situation, manage your time well and you will be fine.

Seriously... I was stressed too but there is no reason to worry... It is pretty easy.
