Have any new general studies students been given housing assignments yet?
GS approved my housing application on June 1st but they still have not given me an assignment. Would anyone suggest I call UAH?

I applied to GS, but I am still waiting for a decision. Would you mind telling me how long you waited for a decision for them, and how did they notify you? Thanks!

FYI - I submitted my app just before the June 1 deadline. When I took the GSEA the proctor said they rec'd 170 that week. I'll post the decision when i get the letter. I'm hoping for the best, but I think I'm a long shot. (may stats are not very impressive, but i've got good work experience / good essay)

good luck to you, and all the others.

My stats stink... i applied may 1, and i am still waiting. I have been calling like crazy (they know me by name there now!) and they keep saying they'll know within a week, but then when i call at the end of the week, they say "no not yet, next week." this has been goin on for about 4 weeks now. Yesterday I spoke to one of the admissions officers and she said hopefully by the end of next week and she said she understands its been 7 weeks I've been waiting, etc. Err... It's so frustrating, if I get in (even though i know I probably won't) I have to move to new york from London, and this is driving me crazy, I have so much crap I have to do!

I turned in my application on March 15th, 2005. Thats right, mid March. And I still haven't heard from them. Its only been 13 weeks.

I called them last week and they said I should get a decision by the last week of June. Unbelievable.

I have an appointment to register for my 2nd choice school on June 22nd and now I'm not sure if I should register or not. If I do register then I will be out of a couple hundred dollars atleast, and if I don't and don't get into GS then I will be in danger of not getting the appropriate classes for my major.

This sucks.

Anybody else facing this dilemma?

Did you get a decision from them yet?

Read my post below, its been 13 weeks and still nothing.

I think you can register and not have to pay till sometime before classes at that particular school start. I know thats how it is at my second choice: Fordham University.

Nothing in the mail yet- I'll post when i get a response.

nothing yet, i called yesterday and they said to try calling again next friday... i applied april 28 so its been about 7 weeks, a little over.

Congrats acceptance. What was you profile ie, grades work experience etc.

No I haven't heard from them yet, its going on 14 weeks now. I called them last week and they said I should definetly get a decision by the last week of June.

I've also heard from other GS students that they send out all the remaining decisions in the last week of June.

So, its just one more week of waiting for all of us.

Good luck to all.

i just called them again today, still nothing... think this is bad?

Did anyone have an interview? I had one yesterday. I was told I will have a respone by next week or the week after.

A Person who got in to GS told me this:

If you have an interview then its a very good sign that you are going to get in. They interview people that fall into the middle, you know, you could go either way but if you demonstrated that you are even half intelligent then you have a great shot at getting in.

What kind of questions did they ask?

Thanks

The interview was very straight forward...Why do you want to go to Columbia? How will you face the challenges? I was nervous, however, I am glad that I had the opportunity to meet with them. I also saw a fellow Phi Theta Kappan there taking the entrance exam...he also had an interview. I am an older student, married, with two young boys. Some of the questions asked are also about your current situation. Anyway, like all of you...I am still waiting.

I got in! I got in!

I got accepted into GS for the fall.

Good luck to all.

Congradulations!!
Just from reading your ealier posts in the other thread it's pretty clear that you wanted to go to GS pretty badly. I am very happy for you!!
I look forward to seeing you this fall.
Matthew

Hey Miatty79, thank you very much. It only took 14 harrowing weeks to get my decision.

GS was my first choice and actually the only school that I wanted to attend. I'm so psyched.

You have no idea how much time I spent preparing my application and essay, it must of been atleast 6 months of writing and revising it.

Is this fall going to be your first semester at GS also? Will see you there.

later

Khorsani

Congratulations, that's great! How did they finally notify you?

The long overdue answer finally came. How did you find out? I can't beleive that you waited that long. I am still waiting.
