GS Spring 2012 Applicants

btw does anybody wanna read my essay and gimme some feedback? I’ve already turned it in but I would really like to know a non-biased (cus i’m awesome and everybody who knows me loves me) opinion!

if you’d like to send it to me, I’ll read it.

Hey iggs I set you the essay. Please be BRUTALLY HONEST. Thanks!

@tofumaker send it to me too! I love reading essays.

Has anyone heard/received anything for regular decision Spring 2012. I am fretting and anxiety is killing me. @tofumaker, would also love to read your essay.

Scouring this forum probably does not help one’s anxiety. I’m going to try and stop checking this website until I get notice. I’ll let you guys know my ultimate outcome though! Good luck to everyone!!

Hi tofu I havn’t read your essay yet :(. I know!! It’s been forever but the reason I didn’t is valid. I had admissions Drama that nearly stopped my heart- But it’s all resolved now and
I’m no longer a GS bachelors applicant but a PRe Med Post Bacc applicant for the spring… So, still waiting… But just not on the dame program you guys are waiting for… Reading your essay right. Now. Much luck to all us guys :)

Is there a pre med- post Bacc forum? Anybody know?

Did they contact you about regular bachelors ineligibility after they got your application or how?

@ Iggs Nope. I don’t think you can be “ineligible” for a bachelors because people can return to school to get a second bachelors if they want. Right?

My application to the BA/BS program was denied ← that was the part where my heart stopped- dead. BUt then I realized that the school didn’t have a complete application yet so denying me didn’t make sense… unless they review INcomplete applications… which they don’t.
So I started breathing again and decided to take initiative. I composed a non emotional, factual e-mail inquiring about whether the committee reviews incomplete applications.
And then I was invited to apply to the Post Bacc Pre Med program.

I shudder to think about what would have happened had I not regained breath and started thinking rationally again…

Alls well on my end now. And I’m waiting… And this time- I love every. single. second. of the waiting.

@Tofu Read your essay, did you get my e-mail back?

Oh, I see. Well best of luck to you; good thing you acted collectedly! I think it’s an encouraging sign that they directed you towards reapplying, and this is a reflection on the accommdating and cordial nature of all of the General Studies staff I’ve come in contact with.

Tangent** I had the pleasure of speaking with Skip Bailey, the head of financial aid, and I came away with an impression absolutely unlike any I’d had at any school I attended. The “human element” of talking to you, not at you–with full and undivided attention, receptive to your questions//concerns–is something I’m unfamiliar with. He addressed everything thoroughly and clearly, and I advise anyone with financial or even general questions or concerns to direct himself or herself to Mr. Bailey’s office. I know it’s the nature of his job and he’s probably regurgitated the same information and answered the same questions a thousand times, but it was still a pleasant experience for me. I guess these are the subtle and inherent benefits affixed to a $40,000 a year price tag  **Tangent end

How long did it take for you guys to hear if they wanted to interview you? I submitted my application 3 weeks ago tomorrow and am waited anxiously. I think because of some stuff in my prior transcripts, best case scenario they will interview me.

waiting anxiously*

has anybody else that’s been accepted gotten their financial aid letter yet? I’ve had my paperwork in for a couple weeks and haven’t heard a thing

I have not. I received my acceptance package November 4th. I called them last week about it and I think they said expect it 2-4 weeks after you get accepted. I have a theory about that and how it’s related to the final number of students accepted for a semester. Obviously they have a limited amount of funds to distribute so I think the financial process is initiated once the class size is determined. I may be wrong.

I spoke with someone in the admissions office today who said they are “still waiting on the numbers from the government.” Sounds like another couple weeks until we’ll hear anything.

hey guys… so, this morning i noticed that i am able to log onto the financial aid website… does this mean that i am in?? is there another way to get crafty in order to find out?? when did those that were accepted find out? did you receive a call or fedex? how long after you were able to log in?

Not to get your hopes up, but I would say you are probably in… I submitted my application almost a month ago and cannot log in. When did you submit your application? What were your grades and standardized test scores?

hey giantsfan10… i submitted my app on oct 31… for some reason, one of my rec’s didn’t post until november 15… not sure what to make of that because i know that it was submitted much earlier than that. when did yours post? and as far as the gsae goes- i took it after the deadline. my gpa is 3.9. i have had a decent amount of extracurricular activities and honors work. did you submit a photo?optional essay? resume?
