GSP anyone?

"Students are not able to apply directly to GSP. The NYU Admissions Committee selects a limited number of highly qualified students from the pool of applicants to NYU’s four-year bachelor’s programs for admission to GSP. Students"

Now what does "highly qualified" exactly means? My understanding of a "highly qualified student" is someone who can get into NYU directly. Can anyone please elaborate? Maybe someone here went to this program? Thanks!

There's a whole thread about it in "featured discussions."

Basically, NYU gets a lot of applications from a lot of smart people. They can only admit so many. GSP is for people they don't think are "ready" or quite "good enough" (I use these terms loosely, because many people in GSP have SAT scores and GPA's just as high as people in other schools), but they would still like these people to attend NYU.

You go there for two years and are guaranteed admission to the original school you applied for after two years, if you maintain a certain GPA.

Thanks for pointing out the featured discussion! I went back a few pages but somehow missed it.
