GSP Finical Aid

How’s the financial aid at GSP? I've heard they are notorious for giving out the worst packets

I said that in another thread. That is a rumor I heard, also it being one of the main reasons NYU has GSP - most people that get into GSP that is the best school that the student gets into, so the parents are more inclined to pay NYU more money. Remember, that is only a rumor lol.

When you receive FinAid, if you receive non-merit scholarship money that is from the actual school that you are going to e.g. Stern, has Stern Scholarships given directly from the school's endowment. Apparently GSP, which is part of SCPS (School of Continuing and Professional Studies) does not have a big endowment for its students, especially undergrad, since they are mainly a grad school. These are only rumors though!

NYU is a great school, a lot of people I know love GSP, others are disappointed (too much structure etc.) - it's really your decision. I say if your parents are giving you the OK, go for it. You did after all apply ED!

I've also heard that GSP gives out the worst financial aid packages, and its probably very true. Basically, GSP is a money maker for NYU and thats a fact not a rumor...think about it...why else would they even have the program in the first place?? NYU is certainly not alone in this, many prestigious private schools have GSP programs or continuing ed. schools which are basically cash cows...its a great idea.

That being said, I knew people in the GSP program, and its a good deal because you are guaranteed transfer admission into the NYU school you originally applied to. That, and GSP people tend to be some of the funnest to hang out with.

Good luck.
