I orginally applied to CAS as a political science major but got into GSP...if I wanted to change my major to economics after I complete the GSP program, would this be hard to do?

I have a kinda similar question. How hard is it to transfer to say, Tisch? I know Stern is impossible but I want to major in photography and imaging.

FBI - You were guaranteed admission into CAS once you successfully complete GSP, and from what I understand (and I read a lot about EVERYTHING at nyu), you can major in whatever you want at CAS when the two years is up.

Ashley - from GSP? or from another school? If you are trying to get in there after GSP, you need to talk to your counselor right away. I was told that if you want to transfer from GSP to Tisch you generally have to do it after one year (this may be different for the photography program). If it's just from another college you originally applied to, I would imagine that if your grades are good and you have a good portfolio, it shouldn't be a problem. I don't think the photography program is as competitive as some of the others at Tisch, such as Drama or Film/TV (I could be wrong, but I just haven't heard of many people applying), so it could be easier to transfer.

Ashley, it's doubtful you'd be able to transfer into Tisch. The photography program is a four year BFA with studio classes each year and, unless you'd want to start over again, you wouldn't be able to complete the required coursework after doing GSP. This is why they tell you to apply to the school you want to, right from the start. Is there a reason you didn't apply to Tisch?

ah okay i stand corrected. i was unaware of the studio classes.

Yes. I didn't apply because this is my first year in photography and I just fell in love. I didn't have much instruction or even a portfolio put together so I wasn't ready for any type of art school. I have been taking extra classes and I now want to go into photography as at least a minor.

I believe you can change majors as long as it stays in the same school of your original major...

Yeah. I was undecided so I don't even have a major. But I applied to CAS.
