If I go to GSU I will transfer but going to UGA I'm not sure if I can get a good enough GPA to transfer and I might just stay. With GSU the city life is not what I'm used to and everything is walking. Plus the smell and it doesn't feel clean. Plus I want to have a good college experience. UGA isn't diverse enough for me though. I can't decide. I need some help. I have yet to visit UGA though.

And is tech worth transferring intoend of sophomore year or just to grad school with?

What’s your intended major?

You know that if you take some courses at local community college in the summer session (like English, Calculus and maybe one more science), it is possible to transfer to Ga Tech by summer of 11.

Computer Science
Really? How much is it? And how do I sign up for them?

Would SPSU be a better place to transfer from?

Just make sure you get good GPA and transfer over. I see more Georgia Southern students who transfer from there to Georgia Tech than UGA students.

■■■■■■■ who only studied like hour or two in classes in GSU to get an A suddenly face with class with overwhelming workloads and get F and D really helped me get A and B in my classes. Please come and be our cusions for hard classes for Georgia Tech students. your support by failing class will really help lower the curve for us.

collegebro,

Sorry, I made mistake. You can get in Tech by Fall of 11, not summer of 11.

CS transfer requirement only needs 1) two English, 2) Two Calculus 3) one lab science and minimum 30 semester hours

So in the summer semester, take English 1 and Calculus I at Georgia Perimeter college,

Then in the fall semester, take English 2 and Calculus II at Ga State (or UGA) and Chemistry I.

Then you can apply for transfer for fall of 11. since document deadline is July 1, as long as you complete 6 credits in summer, 24 credits in fall/spring, you have 30 credits.

[Georgia Institute of Technology :: Undergraduate Admission :: Transfer Students](<a href=“Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Undergraduate Admission”>Transfer Admission | Undergraduate Admission)

For two courses at Georgia Perimeter college, two courses for instate tuition is around $700. Those courses could be covered by Hope Scholarship if you are qualified.

If you want to go this routine, try to attend one of those transfer admission session. Normally, it schedule every Friday 2:30pm. Run this scenario with transfer advisers.

In that case, I would pick Ga State. Also, Ga State has cross registration with Tech. I don’t know exact how that work. You could potentially take some courses in Spring Semester at Tech as Ga State student and meet some future classmates early on.

What if I can’t take classes over the summer and I still want to transfer the same time as if I did? Also how would I sign up for colleges over the summer if I’m not going there? Also thanks for the really informative help. I really appreciate it.

Well, think again. You may not need to take summer courses.

All you have to do is take

English 1, Calculus 1, Chemistry 1, two other courses (i.e. CS 1 and US history) in the fall > 15 credits.
English 2, Calculus II, and three other courses (i.e chemistry 2, CS 2 and American politics) in the spring >15 credits.

You got your requirements and 30 credits. However, I would still recommend take some courses in the summer semester at local community college. This way, you got some buffers (take fewer courses) in Fall/Spring semester. Try to target 3.5 GPA for both overall and math/science GPA if possible.

As for enrolling community college like Georgia perimeter college, it is open admission. As long as you applied and send them forms, you are in.

Again, attend one transfer session and run the plan by the advisers.

Thanks, I’m going to ask my parents. But they will freak out when they find out I have to apply and waste money on the georgia perimeter application. And it will help so I won’t have to overload with classes at Georgia State. I just need to find out if I apply now is it still open for summer classes or just fall.

Application fee is $20 only.

By the way, I tutored a friend’s kid last summer for Calculus II in GPC. He told me that many kids in his summer courses are transient students from UGA, Clemson, LSU and even one kid from Ga Tech. So apparently, a lot of kids from big university decided to go home and take extra courses at GPC in the Summer. I was surprised by that fact.

I guess it’s easier to get the hard classes over with before taking them and maybe not doing a good job. And 20 dollars that’s great. Now all I got to do let my parents know about it. I’ll do a little more research. And with hope covering my classes I won’t have to pay anything. And I’m taking calculus now so it isn’t a problem.

GPC deadline for Summer Semester is April 1. I guess that routine is gone.

So study hard at GSU or UGA then.

Yep I sure will, thanks anyways. I’ll just enjoy the heck out of my summer. And bust my butt in GSU.
