GT 2021 Deferred. Feedback please

Hi, I recently got deferred from Tech and I was wondering why and what are my chances for RD?

Indian Male
4.2 GPA (3.85 UW)
33 ACT(32R, 35M, 35E, 31S) (superscore)
2130 SAT(800M, 710W, 620R) (superscore)
Calc BC (5) Calc AB subsection(5)

Currently enrolled in GT’s Distance Math/Learning Program.

I applied Computer Engineering early. I got an A in AP BC calc junior year and an A in Linear Algebra offered through GT’s distance math program. Got a B in AP Gov this semester. Other than that, all A’s. My essays were solid but not stellar.

On my deferral supplement, I plan to write about an app I began developing and talk about how I plan to give it away to schools for free and TSA updates.

Yeah man, ur pretty much screwed. No way you’re getting in

Hey! I am so sorry you got deferred. Your stats are similar to mine so I think you are all set in that department. Though I want to know why you only took one AP before this year? I think they deferred you because you decided to take so many APs in your senior year so they wanted to know how you are performing in those classes before making a decision. To me however, your extracurricular and your major of interest really raises a red flag. Yes you are a very well-rounded student but there is absolutely no connection between your major of interest and your activities. If you are interested in Computer Engineering, have you ever built your own computer from scratch with your own tweaks? Have you ever intern anywhere? I think you should try to establish a connection between your activities and your interests. Writing about the app would be a good start but you really need to show them that you are doing this because you are INTERESTED in it and how it relates to your interest in computer engineering, not because you want to get into Tech. Try to work hard in TSA and aim for first place; I know Regionals and States are coming up. Hope this helps.

@Shanexcel Oops! I forgot to mention my other APs! Counting this year, I will have taken 14 APs by graduation. I took AP exams for some courses and I got mostly 4s and 5s and one 3. Im thinking of changing my second interest to Discrete Mathematics because I do love math and I think that is shown in my ECs and course load. I also plan to write about volunteering at robotics camps and other TSA honors.

Also, I made a typo on my SAT. I meant to say 2230 with a 720 on reading. Sorry!

It’s a crapshoot sometimes, I’m black and I got in with a 25 ACT with 4 AP classes and I got it. I’m sure you’ll be happy with where ever you end up going.
