Gt bme

Hello community!

I recently got accepted for GT's Biomedical engineering department! From my understanding, the program is one of the top; however, I was hoping to get some input from those who have had experience with the program itself.

Is the program very competitive? Any negatives or extra positives about it? Is the workload extra straining (compared to other engineering majors offered at the school)? How do you like it overall?

Thanks! I look forward to seeing the replies!

I’m a HS senior too who was accepted for BME, and I’ll probably be going to GT in the fall. I don’t know much more than you do, but here are 2 interesting links I found:

This one describes the BME major classes. It’s a couple years old now but generally accurate.
http://www.bme.gatech.edu/bmesab/SAB/Course%20Guides/courseguide.pdf

And this is the survival by BME students for BME students.

Look for yourself.
You can go into the gatech website (or email the counselor) and get a recommended 4-year course schedule. Compare it with other majors. Then for your major-specific classes, go to ‘ratemyprofessors.com’ or ‘SGA course critique’ to see everage GPA, etc.

tmz, I understand that I could go to the website and look up this kind of information.

The main purpose of this thread was to get some feedback from current students.

The BME program at Tech is an excellent program. As is the case with most majors here, the course work is quite demanding. However, the access to cutting edge research is top notch, and that research and the quality of your training will help distinguish you in the job market. If you are considering pre-health (pre-med, pre-dental, pre-pharm, pre-vet, etc.) then BME is an excellent choice because most of the standard course work dovetails with what is expected of students who wish to enter medical school. If you do persue biomedical engineering here, you will find that a lot of your classmates are persuing a career as a physician. BME is an extremely popular major, and an enormous amount of money is being pumped into it by the institute. This means great professors and excellent opportunities. There are also a lot of girls in BME  (Not sure of your gender, but this is a plus either way).
