Hey I will be a GT for fall 2009 and I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with greeklife and transfering. Is it common for transfers to deactivate? How is it coming in for a transfer at a frat? Can you live in?
thanks

Being a transfer in a frat is pretty normal. Only the tiny very popular ones have quotas. Most others are fine w/ transfers and u will do well. I donno about decactivating at ur old frat...the transfer I know didn't even tho he joined a new one. First c if u like ur old frat's branch at Cornell b4 u decide.

If you want to join Cornell's chapter of a fraternity you're already in you need to transfer your membership...chat with your chapter president about that.

I would go call your the president of the cornell chapter of your house and see if you like the house. if you dont, you can deactivate and pledge a different house. i know a few people that did this. i know in my fraternity, we have approx 5-7 transfers/ pledge class out of approximately 17 to 19 guys. If you're a sophomore you should have no problem.
