I've been contacted by the lacrosse team at Tech. Does anyone know anything about the team...how much do they practice......is there anyone here who actually goes to tech and is on the team?

Is it costly? And do practice/games cut into schoolwork?

Seems like a good club; the questions you're asking aren't exactly specified there though.

*My son is currently a 2-year varsity starter as a JR in HS, and lacrosse at GT is an interest for him (as an EE or CS major; yeah, is there time?).

Any information or experiences you can share would be appreciated.

I will def. update when I get more information. Tell your son to put his lacrosse experience on his GT application. Thats how they contact people.

The man who contacted me said he went through about 100 applicants who played lacrosse, researched the school team and the position, then gave about 25 kids a call.

And to clarify the questions:
How many days a week do they practice, and for how many hours?
I will most likely major in CS or CE/EE...will lax cut into schoolwork for those majors?
I know the school does not pay for everything, since its only part of USLacrosse...so how much does one usually shell out during the season to play?

I wonder, can anyone who wants to try out? or do you have to be invited? Did you have lacrosse awards, such as all-conference, etc?

I've seen some of the information you are seeking on other schools' club websites. For instance, it costs $2000 per year to play at Michigan, plus the players are involved in fundraising. (Of course, everything costs more at Michigan. ;) )Most clubs seem to have Fall practice, about 3 times a week, which is used to determine who makes the roster for the Spring season.

I think anyone can try out. When the guy called I got the gist that he was calling players that really stuck out, came from schools who went pretty far the year before and schools that have a good record. Our team went to our state quarterfinals last year, and had a really good record. He was also looking for certain positions, like crease attack...which I am. But I'm not guranteed a spot, it's sorta like a thing where they go "We want you to play for us, but you gotta try out like everyone else so we know your legit."

Our team was waaayyy down the list, so I think they just check the teams you beat and your record from that stuff. Also, if they give you a call...it'll be through his coach. They call the coach and talk about you and then the coach gives you the info.

Yea, I know GT practices 3 days a week...i just dont know what times and such. 2k is pretty reasonable for travel, equipment, and tourneys
