Gt?

i know for sure i won't qualify as a psp semi but after asking an admissions counselor at tech, he said that i will receive one of two notifications in dec (since i applied before the 31st of oct)-either i am accepted and am selected as a psp semi or i get placed into the regular admissions with the rest of the applicant pool. i know i will get the latter, but according to some other folks, they claim that you can get a rejection letter in december b/c there is no deference? i'm confused...

also, i heard the applicant pool of the class of 09 is extremely competitive this year. what was the acceptance rate for tech for the class of 08? thanks.

Georgia Institute of Technology :: Undergraduate Admission :: Quick Facts

The acceptance rate was around 59.2% I guess.

They say that every year. It makes people who got rejected feel better about being rejected and the people that got accepted feel more elite. It's true that the acceptance rate has dropped maybe 5-6% in the last several years, but I think Tech's rep is still that they'll accept pretty much any schmuck with a 1300 SAT, fair or not. I know quite a few people who were rejected from my alma mater (UFlorida) - which is ranked significantly lower in engineering - but accepted at GT.

I'm just going by experience that Tech is significantly less selective than other schools at its quality level. I do not have one friend that was rejected from GT, granted none of these friends were the "1300 SAT schmucks" I was talking about, but some of them did get rejected from Florida which has a significantly worse reputation in STEM and overall.

I agree with gthopeful.

Although, admittedly it is getting a little harder to get into Tech as the years go by. I have a friend that was accepted into UGA and Emory but rejected from Tech. His GPA was a 4.0 but his SAT was slightly low (1900 on the 2400 scales, I don't know what it was on the 1600 scale).

wowzers that's kinda weird

...thanks.
