GTech chances

Hello! I applied early to GT for aerospace engineering. I’m out of state.

APs: Physics 1 (5), Physics 2 (4), US History (4), Physics C (Mech and E&M), and BC Calc
Honors: Spanish 1, Spanish 3, Algebra 2, Precalculus, Geometry, Engineering
Unweighted: 3.81
Weighted: 4.25
SAT: 1550 (800 Math, 750 Reading/Writing)
I think my teacher recommendation should be pretty strong (obviously I haven’t seen it), and I also think my essays are quite strong. However, for EC I am super weak. I pretty much just have my four years of FRC robotics, and my work as a youth coach at a climbing gym.

Thoughts?
Thanks.

I’m no expert but I just returned from an info session and tour at Tech. They definitely downplayed the importance of test scores, which I think are the strongest part of your stats. 3.81/4.25 with 5 APs isn’t the strongest but at least is targeted in the right areas (it isn’t bad by any means, but they will see higher grades for sure). Is your school especially challenging (how’s your class rank with those grades?) Last I checked the admissions stats OOS was 16%. They also said they do not admit by school or major but consider whether you look like a reasonable candidate for the major you list. Sorry can’t give you any real “chance me” answer but maybe this is useful info if you didn’t already have it.

If you look at Section C7 of Georgia Tech’s Common Data Set, it prioritizes GPA over standardized test results. Further, most of the kids I have known recently who were admitted as an OOS applicant were either valedictorian or salutatorian of their respective high school classes. If you are unhooked, I think you are going to have a difficult time getting admitted as an OOS applicant to GT. (Are you female or a URM?)

I go to an urban public magnet school. It has a rigorous curriculum and all of my regular classes are considered “advanced”. unfortunately my school doesn’t do class ranking. Thanks for the replies!

Any luck?
